The KC Vaccine today will last 10 to 12 months. Although only 70% proof it gives us, the Boarding Kennel and yourselves 70% piece of mind that your dog will

•  not bring it in and

•  your dog will not contract it at the Kennels.

What is Kennel Cough?
It can be rife in any large dog population, Kennels, Dog shows, Dog Training, and general dog walking areas.

Kennel Cough is endemic and highly contagious.

It is easily spread by airborne droplets from a dog sneezing or coughing.

When lots of dogs are grouped together in proximity over a period of time, such as in kennels, Kennel Cough can spread quickly, possibly infecting all the dogs.

Kennel Cough does resolve itself after a period of time.

Medication will often do little to get rid of the initial signs but treatment can alleviate the actual cough.

As so many different organisms can bring about Kennel Cough it is impossible to completely guard against it occurring.

Kennel cough is commonly seen in dogs that have been recently boarded and manifests

itself when the dog develops a dry, harsh cough. The coughing often results in the dog retching which causes many owners to believe that their dog has something stuck in its throat. The Canine Parainfluenza virus and Bortella Bronchiseptica are often responsible for the most severe instances of Kennel Cough but other infectious organisms can cause Kennel Cough. Coughing will usually persist for up to 2 weeks before the dog starts to get better.

More serious complications such as pneumonia can develop in the cases of very young or elderly dogs.

Lots of dogs will already receive Canine Parainfluenza virus vaccinations when they go for their annual health check at the vets but the KC Vaccine is in addition to the normal booster.

Owners must settle their accounts in full before the return of any pet.
